Lore: Gutter_Transit (The Invisible Infrastructure)
In a city where every Oyster Card tap and GPS signal is monitored by the Ministry and Sovereign Utilities, the marginalized and the criminal have developed their own "Invisible Infrastructure."
1. The Blind Bus (Route 000)
Description: A deregistered, double-decker bus that has been magically "jailbroken." It is painted in a matte, non-reflective black or a chameleon-grey that blends into the urban smog.
Mechanics:
- Magical Drafting: The Blind Bus doesn't generate its own propulsion resonance (which would be easily tracked). Instead, it "drafts" behind the official MAS-monitored buses, siphoning off the wake of their resonance to move.
- Ghost Stops: It only stops at "Decommissioned" or "Planned-but-Never-Built" bus stops. To signal the driver, one must hold an item of low-level resonance (like a flickering lighter or a vibrating coin).
- The Filter: The windows are fitted with "Aether-Polarizers" that make the interior look like a standard cargo-van to external MAS sensors.
The Fare: The fare isn't sterling. It’s "The Penny Tax"—a small physical offering of resonance (a discarded focus, a charged battery, or a copper coin that has been held by a sorcerer).
2. The Leak-Rail
Description: Using a hand-pumped "Gutter-Car" to travel along the old Victorian maintenance tunnels that run parallel to the modern Tube lines.
3. The Stationary Slide
Description: A form of low-level teleportation that only works between two points of high "Static Interference" (like two burner flats). It feels like being squeezed through a straw and often results in "Resonance Nausea."
Note by Alistair: "Public transport is for people who want to be counted. The Blind Bus is for people who want to disappear. Just don't sit on the top deck; the ley-line friction will take the skin off your ears."
